Psychological Thriller

This was my first psychological thriller so also first book by Freida. I am writing this having just finished the book 20 minutes ago feeling a little unsure how I feel about it.

It follows the story of Brooke who is a nurse practitioner, who moves back to her hometown and gets a job at a men's maximum-security prison. Things and people from her past come back to haunt her.

I enjoyed Freida's style of writing, easy to get caught up in and then all of sudden you've read half the book. I felt for 3/4 of it; it seemed rather predictable for me in a way but then right at the end it was not entirely as I thought but I was maybe not surprised by it. I did like the short little chapters and how it flicked between the present and past. I 100% liked the thriller aspect of it and think I could definitely grow to really like this genre. I feel like the feelings it gives you would almost feel addictive (if that makes any sense to anyone who reads crime, thrillers).

I think I was maybe hoping for a bit more though. Was still a great little read, and I will definitely be giving more of her books a go, for sure!
