Historical Adventure Novel

This book was a long time coming for me. My Dad had been trying to get me to read this since I was a teenager (A long time ago now). But I'm glad I waited because I don't think I would have appreciated it then as much as I do now.

This story is fully packed with everything! Brothers, family, love, war, adventure... so much adventure, friendship, grief and loss. Sean Courtney is a fantastic character, and his development and journey is amazing. This mixed in with the historical nature of Africa is magical. The friendship between Sean and Duff is something I particularly loved in this book.

Smith's writing is spectacular; it really transports you to another time and place and makes you feel like you're on this journey with them.

A great start to a many book series, highly recommend this book!!!
